Cambodian traditional dancing comes to Australia

A group of Cambodians from a village called Ta Hen (out near Battambang) are doing a tour of Australia in late March, early April. After seeing my fair share of Cambodian dancing, they're very good - much better than you'll see in any of the theatre restaurants around Siem Reap and some have said on par with the Royal Ballet of Cambodia. They practice really hard, almost every weeknight for 2 hours each night. There are about 150 dancers at Ta Hen, ranging from about 6 years old to early 20s. It's amazing to watch them all practice together. A group of about 25 of the older ones will travel to Australia.

The dates are:
  • Sydney 27 March Ramsey Hall, St Ignatius' College, Review
  • Sydney 28 March St Aloysius' College Senior School Hall, Milsons Point
  • Brisbane 1 April Stuartholme Girls College Hall, Toowong

  • Adelaide 4 April St Mary's College Performing Arts Centre
  • Sevenhill/Clare 5 April St Michael's Church Hall, Clare
  • Melbourne 8 April St Ignatius' Church Parish Hall, Richmond
