Scrumptious apple crumble

With thanks to Am, who got it from Tom:

- Chop 2-3 apples into chucks, mix with 2 tbs brown sugar (and optionally rum) in a baking bowl.
- Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar and 75g butter (and optionally oats) with hands. More butter if it's not moist enough. Sprinkle over apples.
- Bake at 150C for 30min, or until golden brown.

Pear, pineapple, blueberries and sultanas also work well.

A snail called Adam

Let me be the first to admit that I'm not the best goldfish keeper in the world. The fact we've had the one goldfish for going on 4 years now is a testament to his hardiness and the quality of the pet store we bought him from. He has seen many of his contemporaries come and go, plant, snail and fellow fish alike, but he is the constant.

So it was a surprise to find one morning a small snail sliding his way across the glass. Where did he come from? It has been a good 2 to 3 years since we had snails. Out of the sludge had come this itty bitty being, with no help, or care or thought. And he seems to be doing ok, despite my careless wiping down of the fish tank walls with a paper towel. We've named him Adam and now the goldfish has a friend.
